Writing Paper Part 2. Task Type: A Proposal

Content
Should discuss all the points mentioned in the task notes, i.e. event ideas, costs and publicity. It should also evaluate the practicality of the ideas that are proposed.

Range
Language of description, analysis and recommendation/ evaluation (e.g. "Such an idea would work because...."; "We should also consider").
Vocabulary for measuring the costs of an event (e.g. 'cover costs', 'break even', 'keep/stick to our budget', etc.) could be used.

Organisation
The proposal can have a similar format to a report, i.e. divided into clear paragraphs with appropriate headings for each section. The aim or scope of the proposal should be clearly stated early on.

Register
Should be on the formal side even though the committee members are friends. (Note: Proposals are often given a wide circulation so it is better to keep to a formal style.)

Target reader
The other committee members would be informed and be able to use your proposal as the basis for discussion at the next meeting.

Language accuracy
Does not have to be completely accurate but any errors should be minimal.
