Pamela (Guest) (2 posts) Mar-03-06, 05:40 PM (GMT) "How to improve and develop competitive awareness for the FCE?" Hello everyone, I am quite new leading a course in order to prepare students for taking the FCE next June. Despite the fact, that I have cassettes, practice exams, videos and so on. I feel that my students are not quite competent. In fact, we have been asked to improve the level of the students due to the fact that the last year more than 30 students from the centre I work for, did not pass. Let me say that the weakest areas which thay cannot deal with successfully are listening, reading and use of English. Are there any suggestions? I welcome all! Thank you in advance! I HOPE THAT THIS YEAR WILL BE BETTER FOR YOU AND YOUR STUDENTS.I WANT TO ASK WHICH WAS YOUR METHOD OF TEACHING YOUR STUDENTS , AND HOW MUCH INTEREST DID THEY SHOW IN LERNING ? I AM A STUDENT TOO , THAT I AM ATTENDIN A COURSE OF FCE , BUT I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TEACHER , SHE IS NOT THINKING ABOUT OUR LEVEL OF ENGLISH AND TAKING A VERY GOOD GRADE IN EXAM, BUT ONLY TAKING THE PAYMENT FOR THE COURSE. Students, and sometimes us teachers, tend to focus too much on practice tests forgetting the overall purpose of a language course. Students should be well aware of what and how is being tested to improve their results. They should never perform exercises mechanically.
